Sampson is a very calm, gentle 8 year old golden retriever cross, neutered and up to date on shots. He was surrendered at the shelter when his human went into a nursing home. He only knew Italian so Sampson has been learning English commands since surrendered and has pretty much mastered it! Such a smart boy!
He is good with children, other dogs and cats.
Sampson has been fostering at Mayrich kennels - this is what they have to say about this lovely boy:
“We are all going to miss Sampson. He has a very calm and gentle demeanour. Friendly with all people he’s seen. No issues with cats or other dogs that we’ve seen. No resource guarding (however he will jump at an opportunity to pick up any type of food ie. dropped treat!).
He has NEVER made a mess in his suite, loves a crate and doesn’t chew bedding or any other items. He’s never jumped. He is very slow to learn obedience cues but I think that’s a language issue. He also may be a bit stiff in his backend at times so we are not pushing a lot of sits. He will pull unless you give a little reminder. He loves to cuddle and be pet and pampered. “ - Mayrich
Sampson will need leash training (we suspect that is why Mayrich reported occasional stiff back-end ... inactive lifestyle with his ill senior human).
Sampson had a lump on his side so during his vet exam, Dog Speed had them check out the lump, which turned out to be a benign fat lump, but we had it removed anyway. He is healing well and looks great! He has no hip issues.
