|Breed (mixed):||Maltese / Yorkshire Terrier|
Teddy is an 8 year-old, 8 lbs Maltese/Yorkshire Terrier mix male dog with long hair if not kept clipped. He is a healthy boy, up to date on his vaccines, neutered and will be microchipped.
Teddy was not socialized with adults or children and had no limits or guidance in his previous home. He developed fear biting and nervous barking. His rehabilitation so far has been great and he’s made progress. He needs a knowledgeable person who will continue to rehabilitate him, guiding Teddy to be a normal, social dog.
He enjoys his walks, is safe with dogs (cats unknown), loves the car and sleeps when riding in the backseat (will bark at times), does not need a crate at home, sleeps on a dog bed at night and likes to sleep-in every morning. Teddy is not destructive in the home, is fully house-trained, eats well twice a day, enjoys exploring the backyard. Teddy will bark when someone comes to the front door but that’s improving. He is cautious meeting new people, needs time to warm up to them, then enjoys their attention.
Teddy is naturally dominant so will need a home where the humans are in charge and will give him limits to his behaviour and will follow through with the rules of the home. A home without children would be best for Teddy. In return, you will enjoy his companionship and affection.
A fully fenced yard and a person who is not away from home for long periods of time would be best as
Teddy can become anxious and bark if his person is gone for too long, thus an apartment would not be ideal.
