Jessie’s Story
Meet Jessie, a lovely 8 year old spayed Spaniel cross! Her world has been turned upside down because her 93 year old human mom is battling cancer and has just been moved to a care facilitly, thus Jessie now needs a new forever home. She was adopted by her current mom in 2011 and is now in foster care.
Because her mom wasn’t able to walk her, Jessie became overweight so is on a prescribed weight loss food. She also has a condition called “dry eye” which requires daily eye drops which she easily tolerates.
Jessie has been in the foster home for a week and bonded very quickly. She needs reassurance if blocked from access to the family. She has been kept separate from the other dogs in the family as she had demonstrated some intolerance of them in the house. She was quiet and content when left completely alone for an hour to test her anxiety and was not unsettled upon the foster’s return. If she thinks there is someone in the house and she cannot be with them, she is anxious but if she knows she is completely alone, she settles. Jessie is fine with cats as she lived with one previously and the foster has two cats.
Jessie was also tested with numerous adults (men and women) in a noisy environment and she was fine, easily moving from one person to another for affection. She loves people and likes to get up close and be with her people. She is a gentle walker on leash until she sees another dog, then barks and growls but is easily distracted - walks are new to her. Jessie is in a daycare program with trainers to help identify and ease her intolerance with other dogs which are likely barrier and leash induced. She is untested with children but her owner said she was fine with kids.
Jessie is sweet, comical and loves to snuggle and be petted. She would be best in a home where she is the only dog but can be in a home with a cat. She could be in a home with older children (10 yrs and older) but is untested with younger kids.
